Once glass is created, it’s pretty much never destroyed. That’s why it’s so important to us that our candle vessels are made from recycled glass, rather than creating new glass. The process of recycling glass also only uses about 40% as much energy as recycling plastic, and no quality is lost. That means glass can be recycled over and over again. Once your candle is finished burning, the glass vessel can also be fully recycled… although reusing it is an even better option!
The possibilities are endless! Some of our favorite ways to repurpose our glass candle vessels are as planters for small kitchen plants, as bathroom jars for cotton balls and q-tips, or as room decor to hold things like jewelry, keys, or your favorite snack. If you can’t find a place in the house for your empty vessel, you can always recycle it, as our glass is 100% recyclable. Just remember to remove the wick, the wick holder, and the candle label, first! Thank you for doing your part to care for the planet with us.
The days of plastic bubble wrap, thousands of wasteful packing peanuts, and traditional duck tape are behind us. We opt for recycled and eco-friendly packaging, even if it means it takes us longer or is more difficult to source. We keep our candles safe during shipping with “Green Wrap” – a naturally biodegradable alternative to bubble wrap that’s biodegradable, compostable, SFI-certified, and fully recyclable. Our packing tape is FSC recycled, water activated, and printed with soy-based ink to mark our corrugated kraft shipping boxes with our signature look.
One of the best parts of our eco-friendly packaging is our dissolvable packing peanuts. Made from wheat and corn starch, these packing peanuts can dissolve in warm water and rinse down your kitchen sink, instead of ending up in a landfill like traditional void fill would. If you’d rather not dissolve them, they are also fully compostable. The last steps you can take to dispose of your packaging are to recycle or compost the certified Green Wrap paper, and to recycle or re-use the corrugated shipping box. You can even compost the packing tape!
Anywhere you see our logo printed, you can guarantee that it’s been done so on recycled paper. This means that our business cards, candle care postcards, dust covers – and yes – even our candle labels, have all been printed on recycled paper.
We’re all about function first, and we want to make sure every piece of packaging and paper you get from us is useful and necessary. Not only is our business card a quick way to get our contact information, but we’ve included some handy guidelines to measure your wick’s length as you get used to trimming it regularly.
As with any business, there’s no one right way to source, produce, and deliver candles. We’re not perfect, but we try our best to research, educate, and make the most socially and environmentally conscious decisions possible when creating our products.
At their most basic level, our candles are made in a recycled glass vessel, contain Coconut Apricot Wax that’s gluten, toxin, paraben, and phthalate free, and comes from renewable sources.
